The Seconds that Make Wedding Photography Count

Wedding Photography

A few favorite  wedding moments captured by Photos Edge

Through the years there are thousands upon thousands of photos we have taken.   Each one striving for the perfect wedding photograph.  For us one of the best ways to capture a wedding is to realize the importance of what is going on.  This isn’t just a job, this isn’t just another moment.  On a wedding day there are the standard photographs that all decent wedding photographers should already know to capture.  Among some of the most standard moments are: a couple’s first kiss, first dance, walking down the isle, throwing of the bouquet or garter, bride getting ready, just to name a few.  However I am not known for being standard.  I don’t want my couples just getting the minimum. My amazing wedding couples deserve more than that.  Those events are not what I am looking for, I look for what happens before, during, and after those moments.  The seconds filled with pure joy, utter anticipation, honest emotion, and the best reactions that make for an outstanding wedding. Today I am going to share a few of my favorite emotional wedding moments.  These are the important seconds that fly by but will keep everyone talking about your wedding for years to come.

What was supposed to be a fun bridesmaids shot ended up being way more.  The wind grabbed the veil sending it into the air.  The heart shape came naturally and the laughter became genuine the moment the veil began to slip from their finger tips. Wedding Reception at The Ritz Charles.

Lots of things happen during receptions.  At Natalie’s wedding she sat with her sisters at the head table laughing about a surprise performance. Wedding Reception at The Madrid Theatre.

Father daughter dances can go in many directions, fun  and choreographed, calm and swaying. But at Whitney’s wedding her dad held her.  They moved a little in the beginning but soon their dancing slowed down to a meager sway and he held his little girl.  Wedding at Longview Mansion.

The grand exit from the Town Square in Paola Ks is beautiful.  And as these two love birds ran past their friends and family cheering, party poppers were shot, making for a colorful fun celebration. The big hurrah as man and wife.

It’s subtle but very beautiful.  This isn’t a normal angle from a wedding but when I saw it, I quietly with ninja stealth hid behind some pillars and captured the moment.  The priest is a good college friend of the groom’s, so getting wonderful artistic photos of he and them during the ceremony was a must for this couple.  This wedding ceremony was at The Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, also known as the church with the gold dome.

Ron Ruth knocked this one out of the park.  When Chad and Kelly wanted a reception entrance to remember, Marco and I along with Ron Ruth entertainment made sure it was not only captured but that the guests would have a blast.  The bridal party entered the reception to “Let’s have a kiki”.  It was a standing ovation and the start of a great wedding reception. Wedding at Boulevard Brewing Co.

Love this shot.  Grandpa is carrying the flower girl, who happens to be the couple’s daughter. He carried her from the ceremony to the reception, after the bridal party.  This is definitely a photo I wish I had of my dad and daughter.  I loved taking this picture and giving it to the bride.  Beautiful sweet back yard Wedding.

All hands on deck.  Sometimes it takes an army to get a bride put back together after the wedding portraits are over.  On this day the wind took it’s toll on all of us, but the photos were amazing and everyone had a great time.  I will see that wind and raise you perfect photos. These gals worked fast, less than 10 minutes of bustling, perfecting hair and make-up, and we were off to the dance floor. Wedding Reception at The Westin Crown Center.
