Wedding Photography Blogging
Wedding blog | Photos Edge
The struggle is real! What do I type? What can I say? Are there truly enough words to describe how beautiful something is? And do I use the word beautiful to much? Where do I start with this wedding blog post?
A few years back the words seemed to flow. Then it happened, people began to take notice and I froze. The pressure was on and I didn’t feel like what I had to say was enough. I pulled away from blogging. And this year starting now I am putting myself back out there.
When I photograph I don’t take a picture with my mind. I take a picture with my heart and my soul. I am open. I cry behind the camera, smile with my couple’s and their families in the joyous moments. I feel everything. I love it all! The tension between a couple when they see each other for the first time, that moment when the groom wants to get the bride’s hand from her dad but it just isn’t quite time yet, the smiles at the reception when everyone cuts loose and jams out to their favorite songs, or when a mom helps her daughter into the most important gown she will ever wear. How can I describe it and give it justice? What can I say, when sometimes I am speechless?
Each wedding is like a novel to me, the story unfolding one emotion at a time. And though many weddings have similar traditions depending on the culture, each wedding is different. The moments between the events are silent pieces of gold waiting to be discovered. I search out those moments. Would you believe that I even dream of couple’s weddings? I do, days before the event my mind begins to create. It’s like my subconscious is ahead of the game, and I am totally invested, dreams and all.
So I will post from the heart, from my experiences, lots of images, one paragraph at a time. I will share with you a story greater than that of fairytales. This is your life, it is Magnificent!
Thank you for choosing me to be your artist. ~E

Kansas City Wedding Photography at the Firestone Building

Giant smiles, a little laughter, and a few big tears filled the dressing rooms at the Firestone Building, for a stunning Kansas City Wedding. Both the bride and the groom had the same reaction. The moment they saw themselves the wedding became real.
In a few short hours Martin would become Geony’s husband. The two couldn’t have been more excited to marry one another. You could feel the tension rise at Country Club Christian Church, right before Geony walked down the isle. It seemed as thought the whole church held their breath in amazement, joy, and love for this couple. They chose to see each other for the first time walking down the isle. Martin smiled, Geony beamed, but the best part of them seeing each other during the ceremony was actually at the end. A big sigh, and exuberant joy was expressed as they were announced, “the two have been joined as one… You may kiss your bride”. That was the moment. Right there! Martin looked at Geony, the way all movies portray the perfect love story. For a split second, time stopped.
Thank you to Martin and Geony for letting us in and trusting us to capture not only the way your wedding looked, but also the passion and love that you have for each other. We hope you enjoy your wedding photography for years to come.
Share if you think they had a great time!

She held my coffee gently as I took a photo that was destined for Pinterest. A perfect Mocha and a lovely heart shaped design carefully crafted. Moments later Marco brought two cups of coffee and cream for Kelsey and Brian to have. I stood there outside of Quay coffee in the River Market of Kansas City, with camera in hand photographing them in between delicious sips. We chatted about artists, college, costume shops, and our favorite café which will always be 3 fools. Brian, our soon be groom, was a founding member and one of the 3 fools. Needless to say Brian is an excellent chef.
This Kansas City Engagement session started out chill and fun. I wanted Kelsey and Brian, who had come down from Minneapolis, to be themselves. We relaxed with a more lifestyle engagement session, focusing on genuine smiles and creating great moments. Marco and I were happy to include their pup.
As we were wrapping up our coffee photo shoot, we giggled at how hipster this all was. I chose my favorite coffee shop and they happened to match the sailor theme. It was perfect without anyone trying too hard. The truth is, this couple was just being themselves. These are the people that hipsters try to become. Years from now Kelsey and Brian will still be artistic and cool and chill in all the right ways.
Their success blows me away. I love watching artist succeed! Kelsey, who is designing her own wedding gown, has always left me in awe with her creations. She is a fantastic designer and I can’t wait for their wedding this weekend!
Congratulations! Marco and I are excited!!!
Please share this session if you found it as cute as I did!

Engagement Session with Jake + Kasara
I work in a unique way. I pull things out of my clients but they also pull things from me. If I have a crazy fun couple that is just flat out silly, I will rock that like no tomorrow. I mean, I will photograph them. Isn’t that the goal? To photograph the real couple, or the view that the couple wants to give the world. For Jake and Kasara, it wasn’t hard to get funny, silly, or crazy shots. Many love candids and I really do. And even though we have a refined style and have a tendency to do regal really well, I think that we managed to get those shots for Jake and Kasara and also everything fun. I even try to get funny and crazy to look museum quality. Hanging out with Jake and Kasara is like meeting up with an old friend, the longer the conversation goes the more the time melts. The way Jake looks at Kasara when someone compliments her is sweet. There is this simple smile that goes across his face as if to say, “Yep, I tell her all the time.” Kasara blushed a little with compliments while Jake held her softly. Through the subtle love shots to the crazy fun candid moments, I think that we captured not only Jake and Kasara’s love but who they are as a couple. Enjoy!

Each couple is different, every moment unique to them. From how they fit together to how they relax with laughter. Kristen and Garrett look amazing interacting with each other. I set the stage and they get to interact, the process creates some amazing photojournalism and moments that make lasting memories. We don’t just document love and a portrait of a couple. Sure we do that, but we go above that and actually make taking the photos a great time. It should be! Here are Kristen and Garrett’s Engagement session with Save the Date cards to them in rival team T-shirts playing in a park. I know Kristen and Garrett will be playing catch in a park someday soon. Enjoy!
