Kansas City Engagement Session
Couples Photos in Kansas City
There were joggers running up an down the steps to McCormick and Schmick’s when Noorah and Brett arrived, Marco and I were running a little late due to the couch riding in my back seat. I couldn’t see very well with the traffic and was driving slower than usual, but we made it only 5 minutes late and that is totally on time according to most of my college professors whose clocks always seem to run just a little behind. The last runner cleared the Spanish tiled steps and we all laughed as we described our mornings so far, it was only 8:30am. By 9 the Plaza streets were screaming with traffic but that didn’t stop my creativity. When I was asked to take photos at The Plaza I knew I had to do something unique, something unexpected. Honestly my competitive nature came out as Noorah explained that her friend recommended the place. Yes the steps are pretty. They’re Spanish, but they are located in such a place that everyone and their dog has had pictures taken there, including Noorah’s friend. I for one want to be different. And tried really hard to get Noorah not to take photos by the blue tiled stares. But when Noorah said she had this perfect dress, my heart melted. Then she said, “you will do it better than everyone else, that is why I hired you.” So…. I was determined now to photograph those blue tiled stairs like no one else, creating art just for this lovely couple. .
Now I have conquered the stairs. YES!!!!! Erin-1 : Plaza-0.
Next I needed to get the feeling of the Plaza, the city, the shopping, some architecture. Now I am at a crossroads, I still have to out do every Plaza photo I have ever seen. Here comes the couch! Marco helped me put a couch in the middle of a median for Brett and Noorah. One of the hardest things I have ever done with an engagement session. The noise was crazy and I was shooting from the median across from them so there were cars driving in-between us. But they loved it and I made a statement at the Plaza and created something original in a very un-original over shot location! Erin-2 : Plaza-0!
Before we were done with the session we made one more stop. The city street! And while were were there someone drove by and yelled out their car “WOOHOO – GO PHOTOS EDGE!!!” It made my day. Noorah and Brett cracked up laughing and I knew beyond a shadow of a doubt that this session would go down in the history books as the hardest most complicated, crazy AWESOME engagement session ever!!!! Huge Thank you to Noorah and Brett for pushing me to be better, pushing me to be creative, and trusting me to create something unique for them! Love it!!! Please Enjoy!
