Engagement Session | S+A
Couples portraits in a slideshow
I had to share this couple’s portraits and engagement session today. I couldn’t just let this slideshow sit on my computer, it had to be shared with the world. Every couple gets to view a slideshow of their images when they come in to proof their engagement session, and it’s so much fun!
What most people don’t know is that I actually struggle with finding the right song for each couple. It’s something I take so much time doing. I know, I know, that it shouldn’t be something that takes a lot time. But we as photographers don’t get to just pick a popular song and plug it in. No. What many don’t know is that it’s against the law to play just any song. To avoid the music copyright lawyers from knocking loudly on our doors, we buy our music with special licensing. Triple scoop music is the best place to purchase great music to use as a business. I spend hours listening to their music and finding the ideal song. “Anything for you” by Fisher is one of my favorites, it’s perfect for this wonderful couple.
Sindhu and Anton stole my heart. Sindhu has this laughter that is contagious. She laughs with her whole body when she is truly happy. It’s big and honest. Anton is her rock, her safe place, I understand because Marco is mine. I see so much of our relationship in them. It’s beautiful the way Anton loves her, you can see it in the smallest of glances. And she adores him. This couple falls together. Take a look at their very real love. I hope you get the feels like I did.
Kansas City Engagement Photography
Kansas City Photographers | Photos Edge
She held my coffee gently as I took a photo that was destined for Pinterest. A perfect Mocha and a lovely heart shaped design carefully crafted. Moments later Marco brought two cups of coffee and cream for Kelsey and Brian to have. I stood there outside of Quay coffee in the River Market of Kansas City, with camera in hand photographing them in between delicious sips. We chatted about artists, college, costume shops, and our favorite café which will always be 3 fools. Brian, our soon be groom, was a founding member and one of the 3 fools. Needless to say Brian is an excellent chef.
This Kansas City Engagement session started out chill and fun. I wanted Kelsey and Brian, who had come down from Minneapolis, to be themselves. We relaxed with a more lifestyle engagement session, focusing on genuine smiles and creating great moments. Marco and I were happy to include their pup.
As we were wrapping up our coffee photo shoot, we giggled at how hipster this all was. I chose my favorite coffee shop and they happened to match the sailor theme. It was perfect without anyone trying too hard. The truth is, this couple was just being themselves. These are the people that hipsters try to become. Years from now Kelsey and Brian will still be artistic and cool and chill in all the right ways.
Their success blows me away. I love watching artist succeed! Kelsey, who is designing her own wedding gown, has always left me in awe with her creations. She is a fantastic designer and I can’t wait for their wedding this weekend!
Congratulations! Marco and I are excited!!!
Please share this session if you found it as cute as I did!
Luck couldn’t have come at a better time. I was looking for ways to be creative. To photograph something that I hadn’t done before. Then while scheduling Kaitlyn’s engagement session she talked about what she had planed and ideas she had for her upcoming photo shoot. We knew from the moment we took Nick and Kaitlyn out to dinner, that an amazing 1949 classic car was going to be apart of the engagement session. So of course what did I do? I talked about the session all the way home. A lake of some kind, romantic feeling, cute props… anything that would add to the ambiance, making this engagement session extraordinary. Kaitlyn had the same thoughts, she also wanted it to be more creative and unique than everything she had seen.
I began to dream of this session, and at 3am when I couldn’t sleep I started a private board on pintrest for Kaitlyn and I to share. I dug up anything that I could find with cute suitcase props and vintage cars. I had a vision and as an artist it is sometimes hard to express my vision to my clients, but that is where trust comes into play. Between passing back and forth inspiration ideas Kaitlyn and I both became very excited. In fact I couldn’t wait to photograph this session. Marco and I scouted out a great location a few days before the shoot. While a dear photography friend of mine Deanna, lent me her suite cases, books, globe. With Kaitlyn and Nicks comforter, my cameras, not to mention Nicks car added into the mix; we blew this engagement session into a stylized shoot. I had a great time creating photographs that are one of a kind for this fantastic couple.
Kaitlyn is so beautiful I had a blast just photographing her for awhile. To end the evening, we took a few casual and fun photos with balloons. I really think that we captured their love. I can’t wait to photograph their wedding, which is coming soon. Jump Up and Down Excited!!!!
A love for a lifetime
Images that tell a story, photos that touch the soul, moments we want to relive over and over again, there is no getting around it, we all want a love for a lifetime . And I want to share the beauty of that love with the world. There are always struggles in life, all of those difficulties make love worth having.
When the pieces of a soul fit together intertwining two different pasts, creating a promise of a new future, there is a subtle pause where Einstein’s relativity is no longer a theory. I feel like we chase that millisecond of perfect love for the rest of our lives with our significant others, not realizing that we will always have it. Every time Kyle held Kira a moment came when she would relax beautifully in his arms. They both simultaneously would exhale and that millisecond was found. Here is Kyle and Kira’s love, laughter, and wonderful moments photographed on the KU campus in Lawrence Ks, where the two met. Kira said that some of her best times were spent on that campus. So, going back for their engagement session was a must have. Enjoy!
I meet people and they inspire me. It could be from the way they look to the way they laugh. Katherine had a smile that made me want to take her picture. When I met her I wanted to be a part of their big day just because I knew that I would love photographing her. She was beautiful to say the least and very much an excited bride. This sweet stunning bride was going to marry a great guy, Adam, who I truly believe looks like he could kick some butt in an action movie. They inspired me to photograph them like they were on an action movie poster. The couple was more that just playing the part – they are the real deal, true love with honest romance. Tomorrow this wonderful couple will be picking up their wedding disk, something I am very excited for. But before I post their wedding, I wanted to share with everyone their cool Kansas City engagement session.
When I shared a sneak peek on Facebook, I immediately got calls and emails about the session; “Where did you take those photos?”, “Is that in Kansas City?”, “Is he an actor?”, and “How did you come up with this?”, “Was that a commercial shoot?”… The questions went on and on . I even had photographers calling me asking me how I did this because their clients wanted a photo shoot just like it. Another photographer told me that when their clients asked for this photo shoot, they laughed and were a little nervous because I was the photographer, they said that there was no way they could compete with what I did, it didn’t matter what their clients wanted. It made my week to hear that. Thanks to inspiration, an amazing couple, and loads of creativity. Enjoy!
A Polished Urban Engagement Session
West Bottoms Urban Engagement Session
These two are cute as can be. We rocked out a wonderful West Bottoms urban engagement session. Even though it was urban it was still refined. From fun loving, often poised, to very giggly.
Someone once told me that my urban sessions are unique because they remain polished and aren’t grungy. I love that. Polished is a great way to describe the Photos Edge style. And polished one word I would use to for Sean and MiToya. This hour seemed to fly by. I had a blast photographing every minute of it. We looked for the best reflective light I could find and then they simply got to be themselves, with a little guidance from me to make sure everything looked perfect. The way they wanted it. Everyone needs a little guidance, that’s why we are here. To help you look good being in love! Please enjoy this session!
